What We Do

Warrnambool & District Community Hospice is proud to have grown from a grassroots initiative into a valuable and respected community organisation, powered by volunteers and the generosity of the community.

Established in 2010, Warrnambool & District Community Hospice is the vision of Deidre Bidmade and Dr Eric Fairbank who were inspired by their work in palliative care to help people avoid spending their final days in a hospital.

With the input of community leaders and local health professionals, they designed an innovative model of in-home support using trained volunteers. Since it was launched in 2015, Hospice in the Home has provided non-clinical care to people with life-limiting conditions, taking pressure off their caregivers and the healthcare system.

Hospice in the Home is complemented by our award-winning volunteer program and community education initiatives that are contributing to a more compassionate and connected community that is knowledgeable and prepared for life’s final stage.

Our Vision Mission & Values

Our vision is for a caring and compassionate community that facilitates the choice to die in the comfort of home. Our mission is to support the provision of end-of-life care at home. We are guided by the values of compassion, care, community and choice.
